I’m sure there must be caramel in the aroma of this rum, but I can’t make it out. The esters are accompanied by pungent spices. It’s the glue and ethanol aromas that dominate the aromatics.
Simply opening the rum is not enough to fully enjoy it. It must be allowed time to fully aerate, at least 15 minutes.
It remains very powerful, but it finally reveals what the esters could have hidden at first. The reduced characteristics are clearly evident, but in the background. The powerful esters bring great depth to this rum. You have to want it to find these aromas.
The challenge of finding what this rum hides behind its esters is exhilarating
There’s a hint of slightly minty caramel and fresh herb spices. There’s also star anise and nutmeg. And also a very light note of candied orange, but really, very light.
The wood also has much more space c level executive list than in the shed. Like old wood left to dry, you can almost smell the dust that has accumulated over time.
It’s hard to find any sweetness in this fragrance which is more about freshness.
Like all rums from Panama there is not a great contrast in this rum
The mouth
On the palate, it’s almost treacherous. I tasted it slightly oily and almost as powerful as the reduction, but it still held its own. The esters came slowly but surely to unleash their full force. The spiciness rose in power and with great force to take over the entire palate.
It takes a second sip to be able to analyze licensed programs and this mouth.
Caramel takes center stage in this rum. It’s accompanied by notes of cocoa and coffee, but it’s much more dominant than in the reduction. The agb directory spiciness gives it pride of place. The caramel lends a slightly indulgent flavor, but it’s very dry on the palate.
The final
The finish is still on caramel, a dark caramel with still a lot of character and light peppery notes.
