 Beyond the report

A3 is a hybrid between the PDCA cycle and the Toyota philosophy to make things visible
This approach focuses on  Beyond the report problem solving! project planning! and process improvement through structured and detailed analysis.

A3 was developed at Toyota in the 1940s. The company believed that any problem should be explained and solved using a single sheet of paper (11×17 is the largest paper size that could be faxed! and the closest in size to the traditional A3). A3 is one of many cost-effective management tools developed as part of the Toyota Production System.

There is no one who invented A3

but there is a story that Taichi Ohno often refused to read any how to set up monsterinsights written report beyond the first page. If a problem is too complex to fit on a single A3 page! it should be broken down into smaller parts that can be tackled individually. If the problem does not fit on A3! you should reconsider the scope of what you hope to achieve.

Many people perceive A3 as a form of reporting. just ignore the trolls However! at Toyota! A3 is more than just a report.

Why do talented people at Toyota think in “A3” categories?

A3 is a method of thinking on a piece of paper that reveals the secret of Toyota’s strength

The A3 system approach involves a thorough analysis of the situation! problem identification! root cause analysis! development of solutions! implementation of these solutions and monitoring of results. It is based on sault data the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle! which promotes continuous improvement.

At the same time! the task of developing A3 is not dry analysis! but the formation of the ability to logically organize thoughts! the development of critical thinking! learning to evaluate a situation from different points of view! and explaining it in a way that gains understanding from others.
